What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of vibrational medicine originating in Japan. It brings balance and harmony to the energetic field surrounding the body, as well as the physical body itself. The word ‘Reiki’ can be translated as ‘Universal Life Force Energy’. The practitioner has learnt how to become a channel for this energy, which they then transfer to client through their hands.

What to expect from a Reiki treatment with me

We will begin by having a chat about how you are, and whether there is a particular issue you would like support with. This will help me get a sense of where you’re at in your journey, so that I can tailor the Reiki session to suit your needs.

Depending on what is needed, the sessions I offer can vary in their structure. For example, sometimes what’s most beneficial can be for you to simply lie back, connect with your breath, relax and receive. Other times the sessions I offer can be very interactive – for example we might continue to dialogue throughout the session, working directly with the healing energy as it moves through your body. Other times I might lead you through a guided visualisation to help you address a particular issue on a deep subconscious level.

My intention as a Reiki practitioner is to be fully present with you, supporting you, meeting you wherever you are at on that day with compassion. Where appropriate, I will respectfully offer intuitive insights/ guidance in service of your healing. However, my aim is always to empower my clients by encouraging them to trust their own wisdom and intuition – to find their own inner healer.

Many clients report feeling sensations of heat or waves of energy in certain parts of their body, others feel their entire body flooded with soothing, calming energy. Reiki can support you to contact a sense of deep safety – a felt sense of being supported and cherished by life itself. Your body will respond to the Reiki as it needs to. For example, if you are exhausted and your body simply needs rest, you might drop into a state of deep relaxation or sleep. It’s also common for clients to experience ‘aha!’ moments, a shift in attitude, and clarity about which steps to take to move them forward.

    Receiving Regular Reiki Treatments

There is no obligation whatsoever to sign up for a series of sessions, you can come as little or as often as you feel you need to, bearing in mind that the energy shifts resulting from each Reiki session take approximately a week to integrate. The healing effects of Reiki are cumulative, and the more Reiki you receive, the more receptive your system becomes to it. Because of this, if you are going through a big transition or crisis, I might suggest you come more often for a while, e.g. once a week or once a fortnight for four sessions, and take it from there.

It’s also important to mention that you don’t have to be feeling unwell in any way in order to benefit from a Reiki session. Many people use it to supports them to expand to new levels of empowerment and growth, whilst others simply come to nourish themselves as a treat. You are very welcome to come in for regular sessions, or simply as and when you feel in need of a ‘top-up’.

    How does Reiki Work?

We are alive because life force (known as ki, chi, or prana in other traditions) is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy, sometimes called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body, as well as emotional or mental dis-ease.

The flow of life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings (‘Where the mind goes, energy flows’). Reiki practitioners believe that a disruption in the energy field happens first. If this imbalance remains unaddressed in the energetic body, it will manifest as discomfort in the mental body, and if unaddressed in the mental body it manifests as uncomfortable emotions, and if unaddressed at this level the imbalance begins to manifest in as physical dis-ease.

The flow of our life force becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, beliefs about ourselves and about life that are not aligned with divine truth. For example, if we believe that we are powerless, or that we are unworthy of love and support, then we are believing things that aren’t true. It is perfectly valid to have have come to these (wrong) conclusions about ourselves and life – very often they are shame-based beliefs formed in childhood as a way to cope with overwhelming/ traumatic experiences. Our emotions can act as GPS systems, letting us know whether we are aligned with our deepest truth, and guiding us back there when we’ve lost our way.

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

    Testimonials for Reiki Sessions

‘Rosi is an amazing Reiki practitioner. I felt at ease from the second I walked in the door. I usually find it takes me a while to open up to therapists, but with Rosi I found it effortless because of  her non-judgmental and compassionate  presence. I could feel a lot shifting during the session and I felt comfortable allowing it to happen as Rosi is a very competent and discerning healer, which allowed me to trust her completely.  I had experienced cysts and fibroids, which were affecting my menstrual cycle . It was ‘blocked’ and a session with Rosi, it had cleared. I am so grateful! The physical aspect, is only a fraction of what Rosi helped me with, she is a powerful  catalyst for change!’   – Hilary Nagle, Speech and Language Therapist,  11/04/17 “THANK YOU, THANK YOU ,THANK YOU for helping me find myself at a time in my life when I felt lost. It’s amazing how I was surrounded by so much love and positive energy without knowing it. Since the first day I met you for a one to one Reiki treatment, my life has changed for the better. I now know it’s ok to be a sensitive, loving person who enjoys being there for others. What I didn’t know was how to protect myself while I’m doing it. I can be a sponge for other’s negativity, and you showed me a way of coping with this (still working on it).   Because of you, I’m a more contented, happy person. The inner confidence I have got from my one to one treatments, doing the Reiki 1 workshop and meeting up for our Reiki share groups is amazing.   You opened up a new world to me and supported me to overcome huge challenges in my life. You taught me not to carry the baggage of my past and to put my energy into the highest good of others and myself.   I look forward to continuing our Reiki journey together, along with some of the other amazing people you have introduced me to.” – Margaret Walsh, primary school teacher. 21/12/2017
